The Sword of Fear

Many today are feeling fear rise up in their souls… not the fear of God, which is the beginning of wisdom, but from evil rising up and spreading in our world. We are, as it were, standing before Goliath in what is happening to the Church and Western Civilization. How can we quell this fear? Relying on scholastic thought, let’s define this fear we are feeling. It is an emotion, a passion from our lower nature… a movement which makes us want to fly from imminent harm that seems insurmountable but escapable. When we realize that we really cannot escape the causes of the fear, no matter where we go, then the fear begins to subside and we deal with the situation in a more virtuous manner.
